The first process is a 5 Micron Sediment Filter that traps particles of dirt, rust, and sand. The second stage (On the TFC units only), is a Cellulose Free Precarbon Filter. If chlorine is present in the water supply, this non-cellulose carbon filter will remove the chlorine without the media being attacked by bacteria. The Reverse Osmosis Membrane is next, where a unique liquid/liquid separation process takes place. Rather than removing excess salts found in most tap water, the membrane actually removes the BEST water from the rest, and discharges the excess minerals and unwanted salts to the drain in a self-cleaning action. The water that passes through the R/O membrane is stored in a self-pressurizing Storage Tank. Once the storage tank is filled to capacity, the Automatic Water Shut-off Valve turns off the feed water to the unit. An Auxiliary Faucet is installed, and when opened, the water is dispensed through the final filter, the Granular Activated Carbon Filter. Coconut carbon is used to polish the flavor of the water by removing any unpleasant tastes and odors.
